Corrected distance = Actual distance x 100/Glider Handicap
Corrected time = Actual time x Glider Handicap/100
Feilding Aviation TrophyTask: Maximum distance originating from the active Gliding Manawatu gliding site.
Rules: Distance is measured in a straight line from the place of release, not above 2000ft, to a turnpoint or landing place as evidenced by a landing certificate signed by one identifiable person or by GPS verification of track and altitude, using a data logger or suitable cellphone app. May be claimed in conjunction with any other task being attempted.
Pearce TrophyTask: Gain of height from any Gliding Manawatu gliding site.
Rules: Solo flight (incl two seaters). No oxygen required. Max height allowed is 10,000ft. Height gain measured from lowest point after release to highest or 10,000ft AMSL as indicated by barograph or data logger. Barograph to be sealed by a Club instructor or Official Observer immediately prior to launch. ATC clearances must be obtained as required in flight.
Dave Tanner Memorial TrophyTask: Te One Homestead Out & Return 116 km.
Rules: Release not above 2000ft north of Taonui airfield boundary. Start time taken when glider enters the Bunnythorpe beer can. Finish time is when glider enters the Bunnythorpe beer can. Advise by radio, when approaching finish. GPS verification of course and altitude is required, using data logger or suitable cellphone app.
Jack Williams TrophyTask: Kimbolton Hotel Out & Return 54.5 km.
Rules: Release not above 2000ft north of Taonui airfield boundary. Start time taken when glider enters the Start/Finish beer can at Bunnythorpe. Finish time is when glider enters Bunnythorpe beer can. Advise by radio when approaching finish. GPS verification of course and altitude is required, using data logger or suitable cellphone app.
Microtech Trophy (The Tiny Triangle)Task: Speed around course: Start Bunnythorpe Power Station Big Shed, Colyton Crossroads, Reid Line/Makino Road Y junction, Finish Bunnythorpe Power Station Big Shed, not below 1200ft. (This limitation leaves sufficient height for a proper circuit). Observation zones are 500m radius (beer can). Distance: 23.8 km
Rules: Release outside Taonui Airfield boundary - not above 2000ft.
Start time is taken when glider enters the Start/Finish beer can, not above 2000ft. Finish time is when glider enters the Start/Finish beer can.
Verification will be by GPS recorder or cellphone GPS tracks.
A glider finishing the task may repeat the task without landing, but must re-enter the Start/Finish point not above 2000ft.
Pilot Handicap
Corrected time = Actual time x Glider handicap/100 x 1/Pilot handicap
Taonui Cats Cradle Competition (TC3)Task: Visit turnpoints in pilot selected order to accumulate the maximum distance in 2 hrs.
Rules: Release outside Northern airfield boundary not above 2000ft. Start time is taken from the time the glider enters the Bunnythorpe beer can,
not above 2000ft. Finish time is when glider enters the Bunnythorpe beer can for the last time, or lands on the airfield.
Verification is by GPS recording track and altitude. Turnpoints achieved when glider is within 500m radius of turn point.
Turnpoints may taken in any order, except that the minimum course to revisit a turn point is a triangle. Taonui is not a turn point; Halcombe is no longer a turnpoint.
Time Points: 1 per minute up to 120.
Distance Points: 10 per kilometre, handicapped on glider and pilot experience.
Landing Points: 50 for entering the Bunnythorpe beer can, not below 1200ft. or landing back within 2 hours (no landing points for exceeding 2 hours).
